It's been awhile since I've posted anything. Bad me. Many developments have been afoot, the most notable being a career shift - put simply, I've absconded from the regulatory field for the radically different world of PR.

Let me take a moment to correct the misconception that working for a PR agency is nothing more than one endless party. It's taken me a month to suss out that the average day in a PR agency invariably involves constant tantrums, shitloads of paperwork, and miles of fast walking...which brings me to my main point.

Pretty much everyone who knows me can agree on one thing: I am madly, passionately, irrationally in love with shoes. I average two new pairs of insanely high (and anatomically unrealistic) heels a week. I may not be able to wear them every single day, but that doesn't stop me from buying more more more.

Ever since I joined the PR agency (hereafter known as "The Agency"), I've realised how impractical it is to wear heels, given the amount of time I clock in dashing from one place to another. I can't help feeling it's a sign of age creeping up on me when, if forced to choose between comfort and aesthetics, I opt for the former. Whatever happened to the days when I'd give no thought to comfort, when all I needed to take my mind of toe cramps and aching calves was the sight of my feet shod in gorgeous heels? Have I left that time behind me for good??

Just the other day - and for the first time in my life - I was filled with a burning desire to check out the Clarks outlet in Mid Valley. Even as the thought flickered across my mind, my inner Imelda was filled with horror, disgust, and shame. So much so that I decided I needed moral support from The Football Fanatic just to get through the experience.

I was gobsmacked to discover, however, that Clarks has recently undergone a total image overhaul, successfully divorcing itself from its former reputation for being 'sensible but boring'. Though some designs could stand to be tweaked (and this opinion comes from a purely aesthetic standpoint), the new range of Clarks shoes marries the previously opposing concepts of style and comfort. Though Mary Janes seem to be the prevailing shoe design, the store also stocks gorgeous patent leather wedges in jet black and candy red, round toed court shoes in camel and plum, and walking shoes in varying pastel shades.
*
The thing, though, is that the price range starts upwards of RM295, with the average work-appropriate shoe costing around RM318 a pair. Having spent 14 hours at an event yesterday in my new Clarks heels though, I'm inclined to think Clarks shoes are worth every cent!
