Hello, 2010

*
So we find ourselves locking eyes with a brand new year – so fresh, so clean, and full of promise. It's only Day 9 of 2010 as I write this, and already, the global fashion media is working overtime trying to predict what will be in vogue over the course of the year.
*
Me? I'm looking to the past for inspiration, because damn, did they know how to dress back then! A good starting point: Mad Men.

Don't know what it's about? Tsk tsk. Click here to read about it.
*
Can't be arsed to click on that link? Some keywords for you: 1960s; advertising agency; Madison Avenue; naughty goings-on; FABULOUS CLOTHES.
*
* *
*
Please please please, could I just spend a day in the show's wardrobe trailer? I promise I won't steal anything! Well...okay, so maybe I'd borrow some stuff. But I swear I'll give it back!

Maneater Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks)
*

My favourite character? No doubt about it: Joan Holloway (superbly portrayed by Christina Hendricks). Not only is she smokin' hot, her presence is so magnetic that you have a hard time taking your eyes off her. Plus, she's a bitch and a half. What's not to love?
*
If you haven't already jumped on the Mad Men bandwagon (for shame!), here's a taste of the sartorial delights awaiting you:

*The couple who has it all: Donald Francis "Don" Draper (Jon Hamm)
and his gorgeous wife Elizabeth "Betty" Draper (January Jones)
*
*
The men behind the Sterling Cooper advertising agency:
Roger Sterling Jr. (John Slattery) and Don Draper
*
*
The 1960s frat pack: Harold "Harry" Crane (Rich Sommer),
Paul Kinsey (Michael Gladis), Kenneth "Ken" Cosgrove (Aaron Staton),
and Salvatore "Sal" Romano (Bryan Batt)
*
*

The brains behind the threads:
Katherine Jane Bryant

*
*

Hats off to Katherine Jane Bryant – the show's costume designer – for the beautiful outfits Mad Men has become famous for. Please please please, could I be your assistant? In case you weren't paying attention before, I promise I won't steal anything from the wardrobe trailer!!!
