I came across Burberry's Winter Storm 2010 campaign advert the other day during another one of my aimless Web surfing sessions. While I respect the British luxury fashion house's brave - and rather aesthetically pleasing - departure from its well-established image of gentrified chic, I'm fairly certain they could have come up with a far cooler video advert that didn't involve having their models jumping around inanely in an artificial blizzard. The icing on the try-too-hard cake? The expressions on the models' faces. I couldn't decide what to focus on: the overdone pouting, the male model's annoying habit of kicking at the fake snow, or the clothes!
Ludicrous advert notwithstanding, this capsule collection does have a few strong pieces. The label's signature color palette - black, white, grey, stormy white, and dark nickel metal - features strongly here, and it seems as though anything that can be studded, is.
Studded Undercollar Cotton Biker Jacket
Studded Leather and Suede Platform Ankle Boots
Military Pea Coat
Studded Black and Grey Hobo BagFinal comments? It's a promising collection, and is certainly one that ups the street-cred ante. But please please please, do something about the video advert! Click here to check out the collection's other pieces.
