I've been in a bit of a funk ever since Miss J casually announced we're attending the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Fashion Awards Gala this Friday. Ordinarily, I'd have been quite pleased at being given a very legitimate reason to shop up a storm. But sensibility - and a lack of funding - prevailed. And now I find myself wondering: "What on earth am I going to wear?"

It's not that I don't know what to wear (dress? pants? skirt?). I simply feel a mental block of horrific proportions coming on when I scan through my wardrobe for gala-worthy outfits. All my favourite cocktail dresses seem so boring now that I look at them.

I'd love to wear something really bright and unique, something with just the right touch of retro to set me apart from everyone else. Unfortunately, nothing I have seems to fit the bill. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to dig deeper in my wardrobe to find something suitable. If all else fails, back to black I go!
