I can never decide if I love or hate birthdays. Sure, there's the thrill of knowing that for just one day, you can get away with demanding expensive birthday presents. But then there's also the irrevocability of turning one year older.

This time around, I'm not a hundred precent sure of what I want for my birthday. Well no, I know what I want; it's just the small problem of telling prospective present donors without them keeling over from a heart attack.

So when you look at it that way, I guess it's really about me not being a hundred percent sure of what I could get away with asking for.

But here's where I make my confession: I love jewellery, but tire of them pretty quickly. So perhaps I'll save the diamonds for when I know I'll wear them every day. And this is where the second desired item comes in.

I've thought of getting a new camera for some time now, frustrated as I have been with the unpredictability of my current one. I haven't been able to get the IXUS 980 IS out of my mind since the first time I saw it, and from what I've read, it seems like the perfect step up.
